My name is AJ and back in September 2007 I started a blog to inspire and motivate the Youth of The Territory to go out there and actively seek out opportunities to better themselves and I would help them by highlighting opportunities for development. For my efforts I was named the Northern Territory Young Achiever of the Year in 2008.

Since starting the blog, I’ve received an overwhelming response to my blog posts and as a result, the whole project has morphed into something much larger. I now look at Dream, Build, Inspire, Lead! as a project that is designed to protect the dreams of young people all around the world. To inspire and motivate them to reach their full potential in life. Adults often forget how easy it is to kill a young person’s dreams. Dream, Build, Inspire, Lead! exists to protect those dreams and provide the youth of the world with enough inspiration and motivation to turn their dreams into reality. I want to take this message into every country in the world and I hope that you all help me spread the word and make a real contribution to society. Imagine if we could change the world? Well here’s your chance!

My Education

For my official qualifications, I’ve got a Bachelor of Business Systems degree from Monash University as well as Post Graduate qualifications in Banking and Finance also from Monash. Unofficially, I’ve got one of the best business book libraries out there so there’s a lot I’ve learnt through reading and studying others.

What do I do now?

For the past 7 years years I’ve been running my own Social Media Marketing  Consulting Company – BLKMGK Social . I’ve learnt a lot about business, entrepreneurship, life and pretty much everything in between and it’s been an absolutely amazing journey so far. I can’t wait to see what’s next!

I’m also involved heavily with professional associations such as The Business Enterprise Center, The Young Professionals Network and The Top End Regional Committee for the NT Chamber of Commerce. All of these associations have allowed me to meet some amazing people and forge great friendships and they really have helped me take my career to the next level.

Why Dream, Build, Inspire, Lead?

These four words have really summed up my adventures in life so far and have helped me through the dark times in life. The phrase is broken down like this:

Dream great dreams. Don’t let anyone take your dreams away from you. Protect them with all your heart and soul because when you face challenges in life, your dreams will be the only thing that help you get through the bad times.

Build amazing things.
You should look to give something back to society, something that changes the world – even if its only for one person. Take for example mobile phone cameras. They are very much a part of our day to day lives. They never would have existed if not for Phillipe Kahn, whose wife was giving birth to their first child and he wanted to capture the moment on his digital camera and send the photos to his family all around the world. He wrote a special program on his laptop, hardwired his mobile phone into the circuitry and sent the digital pictures via the phone network to his friends and family. Even though he created something for himself, the whole world is benefiting from his amazing use of technology.

Inspire those around you.
Be an individual and stand out from the crowd and work towards being a source of inspiration to those around you. We’re only human but imagine a time when you were inspired to do something, how did that make you feel? Return the favour to those around you.

Lead through motivation.
Most people call themselves a manager or a boss or a leader but how many of them are actually leaders? The only real way to lead people is to motivate them and get them buzzing towards desired results.

Why should you listen to me?

Don’t! Question everything I say for yourselves and if you think something is worth discussing then post a comment on the blog. Alternatively if you think I’ve got a point, then let me know – everyone likes to be praised every now and then.

So if you think you can handle it, I openly challenge you to hold the world in the palm of your hand and Dream, Build, Inspire and Lead! to protect your dreams and turn them into reality. Subscribe to my monthly email updates to keep up to date with my adventures and be inspired along the way.
